My movie A walk to remember is a nice story about love but I think I want to take a turn for better or worse and put my best foot forward and change my film. High school musical is the movie I know and love like it was my own. I watch at least one of the sequels once a week. I feel passionate about this movie in every way. I hope for the best…..

In this scene, Jaime (Mandy Moore) is singing to Landon (Shane West) in the play he is thrown into for breaking the law; his community service. The lyrics speak of a poor soul wanting to be comforted and freed. This soul or person is lonely and it longs to be peaceful and loved. In this scene, Jaime is feeling anxious because of her attraction to Landon. I think that the words (written by Jaime in the movie) reflected her battles and what she felt in those first few weeks of reconnecting with Landon. The chorus above says this song is about love and that is what is in the character’s heart at the time. With no worries or stress the girl just wants to be wanted. The song goes on to say that the character gives her all to him.

In the scene the music tells the story of the love develops between the two main characters. And it foretells of their ever enduring love with one another.

My focusing question was based on A Walk to Remember.

I couldn’t really decide between this movie, Grease and High School Musical. Of course I wanted mt question to be about music but I wanted to incorpporate some deep meaning and inner lelvel to the movie I chose. My question is “What story does the music tell, and how does it relate to the characters?” When I chose this question I was rememinded that I have to write an 8 page on this sooner or later, so I was happy that I finally chose a question that made sense to me.

So, “O Brother” can be used to show exhaust and anger but I think the film shows growth and it says to me that life is worth fighting for. The music of this film is sad and inspiring because it says you are sad now but wait until the storm is over. The Coen brother films say something whether they think so or not. And anything is open to opinion.

The happy music is often paired with sad words like in “I am a man of Constant Sorrow” it sounds all hip and old timey but it has very sad lyrics. It doesn’t send a message of hope or anything. The song titled “O death” speaks for itself.

In the Coen brother film ” O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, the music is placed to show that there is pain and suffering but there is also happiness when you make in happen. In Norman Blake’s “You Are My Sunshine”, the lyrics say that love is everything to that person. I didn’t really see any love themes in any of the two Coen films seen. I feel that it’s not important to them, therefore not showing up in the films.

This is just something else I came upon while writing.

My focusing question was about music. The blog prompt is about music too which makes it really easy for me! But the point is that the music changed because of different characters. I think that the blue grass and banjo music are supposed to describe the place and the characters. I agree with the author because the songs that are sung and the way they are sung, is meant to be “extreme and therefore comical” (hainge 38).

The end of the movie showed the little girls singing a slave song or an old spiritual just like the man that was pushing the cart. I think I’ve changed my opinion. I don’t think that the music is stereotypical of the characters, or at least at the end. I feel that the music featured was supposed to be like a story to the audience. It wasn’t supposed to repesent just one person. The story is about finding something but staying on the same path. I think it’s job is to further our understanding of struggle and change.

I feel maybe the message in the film was hidden in the music.

Hmmm. I wasn’t completely here but I know what the prompt is. Is Raising Arizona a psychographic text? In order to answer this question I looked up psychographic. Raising Arizona didn’t feel as if it had three or four different layers. But maybe just one level could mirror a state that we think is uncommon and abnormal.NOT FINISHED

Question of Focus

This picture reminds me of the happy ending to Raising Arizona. My focus question was based on the baby, Nathan Arizona, which is kidnapped in hopes of the newlyweds completing their family.

How does the baby change the couple(Hi and Ed) of Raising Arizona?

Like this sunset, people change color. The characters in Raising Arizona changed all because of a little baby. When the baby of the Arizona family was born, Ed, wanted to take a load off their shoulders and take care of the baby. Ed couldn’t bear any children herself, so she convinced Hi to help her. The napping was successful but now that the new born was in their lives, there was no turning back. Hi, an outlaw in the city, is excited about having some kids with his lovely wife. I’ve heard being a dad and a husband was hard and from this film, I felt Hi, was having a difficult time with all the pressures of his manly hood. His friends want to stay with their new family, but Ed doesn’t approve of this. Ed takes on a motherly role saying that the friends of Hi are a bad inlfuence on the baby. And now that Ed changed that means Hi has to step up to the plate as well. So, Hi starts a new job and works very hard. Hi tried to stay out of jail but simultaneously provide for his family. getting chased by the police is not a great start but it sure is an effort. The baby effects the conscience of Ed and Hi everyday, though they love the baby, it isn’t their own.

This couple’s love grew stronger, then weaker but all together stronger because of baby Arizona.

My name is Terri Ballard. I love music. Comment on what I say so you can get a grade! I tried to add a song but I couldn’t figure out how, so if anyone has any ideas please, comment back.

My life in college has been a little hard but I am learning more about time management. But I’ve almost always left time for one of my loves, which is music. Music is my life and it brings me so much joy.

The main focus on this blog is to introduce myself to you, and others that just may happen upon this blog. Movies used to be a big part of my life but I just lost interest. I think I didn’t really enjoy going to the theater and watching it with other people. There is always some disturbance that I have just ignored. I don’t tolerate too much noise so I don’t sit in a theater that often.

The kind of movies I like to see varies from day to day. I will change my opinion in a flash. Like one day, today, I would really enjoy a comedy film. But on another day I could enjoy romantic comedies. I think all movies are funny in a sense. But mostly I’m interested in comedies. I do not like scary films because I do not enjoy being frightened, however, if the movie has a great underline story, I would not mind spending my money, time, and energy to view it.

But if you would like to learn more about how fun and quirky I am, then comment back!

Actually, i’m not really done. I don’t think I’ve explained myself too well. I am 19, I work at Taco Bell, and i love to make music. The things that I love doing,always make me happy. Hanging out with friends is also nice but I have to make time for school and nothing else.

My future goal is to be a record producer. Yeah sure, singing sounds nice but making the music is my passion.

So love it or hate it. I don’t really talk much unless I know you or just want to talk so hit me up!!!
